Welcome to xelper

This documentation follows the work from project preparation through to analysis. Where you begin depends on the type of project already set up for you and the task you want to complete.

Collection and import

With AI-moderated interviews, data collection takes place directly in xelper. Researchers prepare the guide and test the interview before sharing the link with participants. The completed conversations are then prepared for analysis.

For depth interviews and focus groups, researchers conduct the conversations themselves. Audio, video, or transcript files can then be imported, transcribed, attributed to the correct speakers, and divided into sections.

The route for your project has usually already been decided. You do not need to choose the research method again here.

After collection or import, both routes lead to the results workspace. There you can review transcripts, read reports, compare groups, and return to the original conversation whenever you need more context.

From conversation to traceable analysis

xelper organizes conversations so that you can work across many interviews without losing sight of the original material. Transcripts are divided into sections, statements are condensed into notes, and findings are brought together in reports.

This structure is there to support analysis, not replace research judgment. Open the evidence behind a finding, read the surrounding transcript, and decide whether the interpretation holds for your research question.

From overview to detail

The topline report gives you an initial view of the study. From there, you can open individual topics and see which statements support a finding. The report structure follows the project's guide and analysis setup.

Following your own questions

Not every research question is known at the start. You can search notes and transcripts, filter the evidence in view, ask questions with Chat with Your Data, or create a Custom Report about a selected topic.

Comparing groups

Segment filters help reveal differences between relevant groups. Depending on the project, those groups may describe interviews or individual participants. The statements behind a summary or chart remain available while you compare them.

Get started

If your project collects conversations with AI, begin with AI-moderated interviews. If you are working with conversations that have already taken place, open the overview of IDIs and focus groups.

If results are already available, Analyze results explains reports, evidence, and further ways to explore the material. Before inviting other people to the project, also review Sharing and access.
