Sharing and access
Invite the right people with the right level of access. Project permissions protect the research setup and source material while still supporting collaboration and client review.
Project roles
Project membership controls who can open a project and what they can do there. xelper uses three project roles:
- Admin can manage project membership. In Self Service, Admin can also set up and process the project. In Managed Service, Admin provides material under Files and project information under Project Briefing.
- Member can set up and process the project in Self Service but cannot manage project membership. In Managed Service, Member provides material under Files and project information under Project Briefing.
- Client has read-only access to project data and configuration. Client can review shared areas and use permitted exploration features without changing the underlying project.
Assign Admin or Member only to people responsible for the research workflow.
Sharing analysis
Admin, Member, and Client can review the reports, transcripts, and other evidence available to their role. Chat with Your Data conversations can be visible to other people in the project, while changes to a conversation remain tied to its creator.
For IDI and focus-group projects, Client can create focused or Custom Reports where analysis tools are enabled. Broader report-generation and project-processing actions remain unavailable to Client.
Hiding a button is not the permission boundary
xelper checks access on protected actions as well as in the interface. If an expected control is missing, confirm the person's project membership and role rather than sharing another user's account.
Before inviting someone
- Confirm that they should have access to the research material.
- Choose the least-privileged role that supports their task.
- Explain which reports, transcripts, recordings, and participant information the project contains.
- Remove access when their involvement ends.
